The monsoon makes us to forget something.

Last year the monsoon arrived at right time in Tamilnadu so we forget the most important Cauvery issue. The following are the facts about cauvery and are collected from the central government's official websites.

1.The River CAUVERY is draining 17.99 % of Karnataka.

2.The Principal tributaries of cauvery in Karnataka are Harangi, Hemavathy,Lakshmanathirtha, Kabini,Shimsha,Arkavathi,Suvarnavathy.

3.Except Kabini, Akravathi and Suvarnavathy all the other rivers rise and flow fully in Karnataka only.

4.It is totally unfair for a state to hold its full control over a river just because its rising and flowing through it.

5.The major river system in Karnataka is Krishna. But it is not originating in Karnataka. Its from Maharastra.

Now consider what if Maharastra took the control of Krishna means Karnataka needs to go for a KRISHNA TRIBUNAL (like Cauvery tribunal )to get its share of water. Slowly but surely Karnataka would get a fair verdict in KRISHNA TRIBUNAL. But think what if, if there is a barbaric agitation in maharashtra against the verdict. So please feel and tell a thanks to Maharastra for not having barbaric mindset like karnatata.

6.Cauvery Basin just irrigates 34.27 square kilometers of Karnataka.

7.The need of cauvery in Tamil Nadu is to about irrigate the life saving farms of about 300 square kilometers.

8.According to a study conducted by the central government in 1972, the utilisation of water from Cauvery in Tamil Nadu was 489 tmc against Karnataka's 177 tmc.

9.Now Karnataka wants to utilise 465 tmc, against its present usage of 312.32 tmc. It is against this background that Tamil Nadu went to the Supreme Court.

Calculate the amount of water that’s needed by Karnataka. It needs 13.56 tmc of water per square kilometer. At this point just think what would happen to Karnataka if maharastra wants to use such an amount of water from the river Krishna.
